5:30 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.(Mon. – Sat.)– Your Morning Cup 

Your Morning Cup is a live morning show to jumpstart your day. It gets you up and about and to school and work on time. It features broadcasts/programs that gives you information about national events. You’ll hear the morning weather; the latest in sports and news coverage; traffic highlights and our much looked forward to interactive programme, “Face to Face”, anything from a short contribution or discussion amongst several hosts regarding a particular subject such as current affairs, to an interview with a special guest. In essence, anything which encourages healthy and interactive discussions on issues of national importance. For a fresh and unique morning wake-up call, join Johnny P Straker Mondays- Fridays 5:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.

About Johnny

Johnny P Straker affectionately known to his fans as Johnny P/Da Maestro is a Senior Announcer/Operator at the National Broadcasting Corporation. He’s a past student of the Kingstown Anglican School and the St. Vincent Grammar School. His experience in radio spans more than 2 decades. He got his start at NBC Radio in 2008 as a Part-Announcer and on a more permanent basis in 2012 as Announcer/Operator.

Johnny is married and lives in Belair. He is a former Junior Calypso Monarch and, in his spare time, dabbles in song writing. He also loves and plays the guitar, read mystery books and is an avid cricket fan. He has a funny/humorous side and always tries to make people smile/laugh whenever he can. He thoroughly enjoys working at NBC Radio and his aim is to reach as many persons as possible through this medium. He is a trained Peer Counselor and Bartender and is a natural on stage when performing duties as Master of Ceremony, be it at carnival, weddings, parties, etc.

His Mantra is: “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today”.



9: 15 a.m. – 1 p.m. (Mon. – Sat.) – The People and Places Sound Magazine

The mid morning interlude of music to get you busy at work, a blend of a variety of music mixed with a splash of interactivity, news and sports, within this show falls the “Interface” program which reaches out to the community to highlight current events and one of the most listened to newscasts on radio falls within this show at 12:30 followed by the obituaries as the transition is made into the next show.

1 p.m. – 6 p.m. (Mon. – Sat.) – The Double R Show (Rhythm Roundabout) / Carnival Rhythms Show (During Carnival Season)

An afternoon musical mix with energy to keep you going through that busy day features music of various genres carefully selected to keep you on your feet and moving as well as keeping you updated with the latest news and sports and other current events. The curtains come down at 6PM to make way for the final shift of the day.

Host : Cassius Cruickshank (Monday – Friday )


The Night Shift

Features the latest and most comprehensive evening newscast at 6PM followed by exciting and entertaining selections to tantalize the listeners and help them unwind after a hard day at work and gear down for some much needed rest. We end  transmission at 11PM  Sunday-Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Midnight  for the day from our studios making way for the BBC World Service until 5 AM on weekdays and 5:30 on Saturday and Sunday.

6:00 – 11:00 Pm (Fridays) & Saturdays (1:00 – 6:00 pm)

Power Play on a Friday and the Double R’ Show (replaced with Carnival Icebox during the June- July
Carnival Season) with Austin “ZJ Powers” Cain features vibes, vibes and more vibes. His vivacious
personality, combined with his love and passion for modern, hip-hop, soca and pop culture energise his
listeners and keeps them rocking for the entire weekend. Listen out for his interviews and live call-in
interactive sessions with lots of giveaways.

Announcer/Operator, Jehroy Austin “Zj Powerz” Cain is a December born Sagittarius. He is the second
born of two children between his mom and dad. The elder being Vincentian dancehall artiste Sita “di
lyrical” Diva.

In addition to his on-air duties at NBC Radio, Mr. Cain works as a Sales Officer in the Sales Department
Mondays- Thursdays.

 


11 p.m./Midnight – 5:30 a.m. (Not exactly a shift) Linking with BBC World Service London

Keeping up to the minute on what’s happening around the world with the BBC world service radio, NBC is a partner station of the world service and we relay its program when we end our transmission from our studios 7 days a week

NOTE
**Note that our shifts may be adjusted accordingly on a day by day basis to accommodate the following:-
Morning & Afternoon shifts may include events such as : Cricket Commentaries, Press Conferences, Live Broadcasts or any other Paid  programmes
Night shift – Sporting events, Award or special ceremonies and other paid programmes. During Carnival Season will include calypso prelims and other CDC organised show as part of  vincy mas.
