Forty Vincentians all members of the British Navy, have returned to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to participate in the country’s forty fifth independence anniversary celebrations.
During their visit, the sailors will spend time with family and also call on schools, get involved in community projects, support beach clean ups among other activities.
In an interview with NBC News Wednesday at the St. Vincent Grammar School, Able Seaman Dimitri Mayers said he is happy to be home to celebrate Independence and represent his country.
Leading Hand Police Dorcia Defreitas said the Navy has afforded her the opportunity to make her family proud.
