Several police officers recently engaged in a training exercise focusing on Public Affairs Reports Exchange for Law Enforcement.
Speaking to NBC News, Police Corporal Edson Smith attached to the Public Relations Department said the training was facilitated by the Florida National Guard and the Virgin Islands National Guard.
Corporal Smith said the training focused on training in strategic communication, media relations, crisis management among other communication topics.
He said the workshop provided an in-depth exploration of public affairs.
Corporal Smith said the course highlighted the need for ongoing development for public affairs reporting in the context of modern policing.
