Twenty-six young people were involved in a workshop on Monday, under the theme “Youths Working Together to Build a Sustainable Future”.
The Youth Committee of the Public Service Union hosted the workshop in collaboration with the Education Committee at the Fisheries Conference Room.
The workshop was geared towards educating young workers on the importance of being a holistic worker while incorporating Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s),
There were presentations by Youth Chair, Kendra Horne who outlined the role of the young worker in the public service, Ms Cherry Ann Williams of the Labour Department, spoke to the holistic development of the worker, and Mr. Philcol Jeffers from National Mobilization and Social Development discussed the SDGs and how the young worker can incorporate same in their everyday lives.
There was also a panel discussion on the topic “Ending Violence and Harassment in the world of work”.
Members of the panel included: Sis Desrita Gilkes, Mr. J-lany Williams, Dr. Mavreen Adams and Mr. Adimola Williams.
At the end Workshop, the twenty-six participants were presented with certificates by First Vice President and Head of Education Committee Leroy James.
