The Ministry of Agriculture is moving forward with the implementation of the first phase of the Banana Revitalization Project.
Yesterday, a quantity of fertilizer was handed over to Farmers, under the first phase of the project, which runs for one year – from 2019-2020.
Delivering remarks at the event, Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar said the Banana Industry will continue to play an important role in the Agricultural Sector.
Minister Caesar said, with the developments currently taking place in the tourism sector, bananas will continue to be in great demand.
The Banana Revitalization Project is being funded by the International Co-operation and Development Fund of the Republic of China, Taiwan.
The first phase of the Project also involves the implementation of a pilot programme; the rehabilitation of 200 acres of banana; disease management and farmer awareness and education.
