The newly-launched Trade Facilitation Roadmap for St. Vincent and the Grenadines is expected to assist the Customs and Excise Department in addressing the challenge of clearing items at the Port Authority.
The National Trade Facilitation Committee is hoping that by the end of 2025, St. Vincent and the Grenadines will reduce the time of import and export by 30 percent and remove unnecessary cost for traders, thus leading to at least 20 percent increase in export volumes.
Assistant Comptroller at the Customs and Excise Department Alicia Dick- Brazel said the bottlenecks at the Port Authority are among the priority areas that will be dealt with by the Committee.
Program Manager at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Terrance Leonard, commended St. Vincent and the Grenadines for its efforts to improve its trade-related systems.
