Today is Ash Wednesday and many Christians in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will observe the start of the Lenten season by attending Ash Wednesday services at their respective Churches.
Lent is the period of forty days which comes before Easter in the Christian calendar.
It’s traditionally a season of Prayer and Reflection. Lent is marked by fasting, both from food and festivities across the globe.
Locally, many churches will hold a variety of religious activities including special daily prayer services.
The Anglican Church will hold a Midday Service at the Central Market in Kingstown for the symbolic marking of Ash on the forehead. The service began at noon.
