Let’s Read Together was the theme for a ceremony held on Tuesday to officially re-open the Library at the Calder Government School.
The refurbishment project was made possible with funding from the Mustique Charitable Foundation and Hands across the Sea– an entity founded in 2007 to raise child literacy levels and assist schools in the Eastern Caribbean.
Yvette Pompey – a representative from Hands Across the Sea said the organization continues to assist schools by donating books, as Libraries play an important role in developing the reading skills of children.
Ms. Pompey said the organization shipped a large quantity of books to St. Vincent and the Grenadines last year and she expressed gratitude to all who made the donation possible.
