Vincentians Civil Engineer, Daniel Campbell has been named as one ten new faces for 2020, for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), in the Professional category.
Mr. Campbell received his Master of Engineering from the University of Auckland, New Zealand and works for the World Bank as a Site Assessment Co-ordinator.
ASCE’s New Faces of Civil Engineering program recognizes young civil engineers for their achievements and contributions to society. All New Faces honorees will be officially recognized during ASCE’s annual Outstanding Projects and Leaders Gala on March 13, in WashingtonDC.
The focus of Mr. Campbell’s career has been on improving the well-being of communities through infrastructure initiatives. After a volunteer effort to assess St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ 43 health care centers, he was hired by the Pan American Health Organization to design four SMART hospitals.
At the World Bank, he currently leads a site assessment team which intends to reconstruct 1,700 houses in Dominica that were destroyed by hurricanes.
Mr. Campbell is the co-founder/director of The Initiative VC, a society of young people who are guided by academics and strong ethics. He interacts with students frequently and exchanges experiences with them to help guide their own career journeys. He is also a member of ASCE’s Region 10 – International & New Zealand International Branch.
