An Area Speech Contest will be hosted here this afternoon by local Toastmasters.
The Speech Contest provides an opportunity for speakers to improve their speaking abilities, to recognize individual Toastmasters as an encouragement to all, and to provide an opportunity for members to learn by observing speakers who have benefited from their Toastmaster training.
There are three categories of competition: The International Speech Contest; the Table Topics Speech Contest or Impromptu Speeches and the Evaluation Speech Contest.
The winners in the International and Table Topics Speech Contests will advance to the Division Contest in Barbados. If successful at the Division level, the Vincentian Speakers will advance to the District level in Aruba in May this year, and then on to the International level in Paris, France in August.
Today’s Area Speech Contest will be held at the Conference Room of the Girl Guide Headquarters at Level Gardens, from 4-6 p.m.
