Plans for the implementation of a life skills program, with specific emphasis on gender-based violence, are being discussed at a two-day workshop hosted by the Ministry of Education.
Educators, Guidance Counsellors and Social Workers, are engaged in the workshop to contribute to the curriculum content and to the program’s effective implementation.
The workshop is being conducted by Vincentian Dr. Halimah DeShong and Barbadian Dr. Tonya Haynes of the Institute of Gender and Development Studies, at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus.
Dr. DeShong applauded the organizers’ efforts in promoting the function and purpose of education for meaningful change, and underscored the value of Health and Family Life Education to young people.
The workshop is taking place at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown.
