The St. Vincent & the Grenadines National Trust will host a News Conference today, to discuss progress being made in promoting Whale Watching in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Today’s Briefing will focus on the training of two former Whalers from the Barrouallie Community.
The Trust says this exercise was made possible by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Preservation Fund, in its ongoing thrust to support local sustainable initiatives, geared at conserving the ecosystem of St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
Through this mandate, the Fund was able to send two Whalers (Kirk Grant & Lennox Stephens) from the Barrouallie Community, on a 10-day expedition to Buenos Aires in Argentina.
The two Vincentians met with members of the organization Funda-ción Cethus, which has supported the transition from whaling to eco-tourism in St. Vincent and the Grenadines since 2014.
The objective of this mission was to train the former Whalers in the art of whale-watching and to enhance their role as Tour Guides in Barrouallie.
Today’s News Conference will take placed at the Secretariat of the National Trust, located in the Carneige Building in Kingstown from 9:00am
