An appeal has been made for Vincentians to make a greater effort to support efforts to protect this country’s natural resources.
The appeal has come from a representative of the Toledo Institute of Development and Environment (TIDE) in Belize, who is currently in the state for a national conservation workshop.
Development Director for the Toledo Institute Joviar Franko, said the Institute has published a 100-page manual on Marine Projected Areas and they are sharing this information with Vincentians because many opportunities exist for creating livelihoods in the marine environment
The 3-day workshop, which wraps up today, is organized by the Sustainable Grenadines Incorporated (SUSGREN) as part of the 8th Meeting of the Grenadines Network of Marine Protected Areas (MPA’s).
SUSGREN is also seeking to establish a Community Researcher program based on the successful model developed by the Toledo Institute of Development and Environment in Belize.
The workshop sessions are being held at the Fisheries Conference Room.
