The Forestry Services in the Ministry of Agriculture says it is currently hosting a Plantain Tending Program throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Senior Forestry Supervisor Cornelius Richards, said the program is important, as the Department continues with their efforts to protect water shed areas, forest areas and animal species across the country.
Mr. Richards said under this program the Forestry personnel visit plantations which have been established within the last five years and remove vines, address drainage and other important conservation issues.
He said by May of this year they expect to have covered about 100 acres of plantation land.
