The local Calypsonian fraternity is mourning the loss of calypsonian Noel Defeo Castello of Lowmans Hill, who passed away last week, at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
President of the Calypsonian Associaton Earl Bennette said the passing of Defeo is a sad moment for the Association.
He said Defoe contributed significantly to the development of the Calypso Art form here.
The Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) has also extended condolences to the family of the late Noel Defeo Castello.
The CDC said Defoe joined the Calypso fraternity in the early 70s and was a part of it until his death.
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Calypso Association; the Youlou Pan Movement and the Carnival Bands Association joins the CDC in extending condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Castello.
The CDC said Defoe’s contribution to this cultural component will always be appreciated.
