Issues relating to the renovation of the St. George’s Cathedral will be discussed by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves and Representatives from the Physical Planning and Development Board.
The Physical Planning and Development Board enforced an Order to block the church from proceeding with repairs to the building located on Grenville Street in Kingstown.
Prime Minister Gonsalves told reporters yesterday that he spoke with
Bishop of the Windward Islands, the Right Reverend Leopold Friday and was informed that the order has not been lifted
The Prime Minister says he seeking a meeting with the Planning Board and he is hoping that the matter can be resolved as soon as possible.
The renovation is expected to cost some 24-million dollars and Prime Minister Gonsalves is also challenging the Private Sector to assist in the repair process at the Cathedral which is of historical significance.
