The Ministry of Education today hosted the Awards and Prize Giving ceremony for the local leg of the Write to Read regional competition which is being made possible by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
Writers from throughout the region of all ages made submissions for the competition in three categories: Fiction, None-Fiction and Poetry under the Early Learners Programme (ELP).
Delivering remarks during today’s ceremony, National Focal Point for the Early Learners Programme, Mavis Joseph said this competition which started in 2017 was developed to encourage more regional citizens to read and write on a regular basis..
She said while many people did not make submissions for the Adult aspects of the competition, St. Vincent and the Grenadines submitted ninety-five pieces of literary work and this must be commended.
She said this country won many of the top spots in the regional competition.
