The Ministry of Health will be taking an aggressive approach to address the incidence and prevalence of non-communicable diseases in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Health Minister Luke Browne said in Parliament on Tuesday that provision has been made in the Appropriation Bill for a Capacity Building Project for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases here.
The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines will provide 50-million dollars towards the project while the Republic of China on Taiwan will provide 1.4 million dollars.
Minister Browne said Non Communicable Diseases including Diabetes are on the rise here, and more efforts must be made to control these diseases.
The Health Minister also stressed the need for an increase in the level of physical activity among nationals.
