The changing dynamics of the labor market has highlighted the need for more trained persons to stimulate growth in the national economy.
Director of the National Qualifications Department, Kenroy Questelles, said the mandate of his organization is to provide the training necessary to meet the demands of the labor market.
This is being achieved through the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme which enables learners to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to function in the workplace.
Director of the National Qualifications Department, Kenroy Questelles, said the TVET programme continues to be highly stigmatized in the community.
He said the TVET month of activities is geared to towards educating persons about the importance of this programme and the month will seek to mobilize stakeholders to address issues hindering the programme’s development.
Mr. Questelles said certification is crucial in the quest to secure meaningful employment.
