A Bill to facilitate the process of modernizing the Police Force was one of two passed at yesterday’s meeting of the House of Assembly.
The Police Amendment Bill 2018 sets out provisions for alterations to the law, in relation to the recruitment and training of Police Officers.
In winding up debate on the Bill, Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves explained that the amendments are intended to improve the operations of the Police Force.
The Prime Minister said the Bill makes provisions for the introduction of a new category in the Police Force, called the Police Recruit.
The other Bill passed at yesterday’s session of Parliament was the Dale Charles Pension Declaration Bill.
Parliament has been suspended until Tuesday November 20th at 10:00 a.m.
