The South Leeward Highway was officially re-named the Nelson Mandela Highway, at a ceremony held in Chauncey yesterday afternoon.
The ceremony was held as part of locally organized Nelson Mandela Centennial activities.
Delivering the main address at the event, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves spoke of the remarkable achievements of Nelson Mandela.
The Prime Minister said the Highway will be a constant reminder of Mr. Mandela’s impact on South Africa and the world.
