A five-day Sub-Regional Emergency Operation Centre, EOC, Management Training Course officially opened here this morning at the Paradise Beach Hotel Conference Room at Villa.
The training course is being hosted by National Emergency Management Organization, NEMO, in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development/Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance.
Speaking at this morning’s brief opening ceremony Acting Director of NEMO Michelle Forbes said the workshop is very timely.
She said most countries must ensure that their state of readiness is in line to deal with extreme weather events which occur as a result of climate change.
Participants from Dominica, St. Lucia, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Vincent and the Grenadines are taking part in the week long training.
