Minister of Health Wellness and the Environment Luke Browne, has confirmed that Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases remain the leading Cause of death here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Minister Browne was speaking at the start of a two-day workshop, held here last week.
The workshop was hosted by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, to update the National Food-Based Dietary Guidelines.
Minister Browne disclosed that there is an increasing prevalence of chronic diseases globally and locally and place a heavy burden on the health care system.
