People of Indian Origin (POI) in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are being encouraged to apply to the Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) programme.
President of the SVG Indian Heritage Foundation, Junior Bacchus, said the OCI was introduced in 2005 in response to demands for dual citizenship by the Indian diaspora, particularly in developed countries.
Mr. Bacchus said the OCI is an immigration status authorized for a foreign citizen of Indian origin to live and work in the Republic of India indefinitely.
Mr. Bacchus said this country enjoys longstanding relations with the government of India and efforts are being made to simplify the application process for Vincentians.
