The Forestry Services in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, is again appealing to persons to minimize the use of fires for hunting or Agricultural purposes.
Director of Forestry, Fitzgerald Providence, made the appeal during NBC’s face to Face program last week, which focused on the importance of Biodiversity.
Biodiversity is defined as “the variability among living organisms from all sources including, inter alia, terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part.
Mr. Providence said the use of fires destroys both Plant and Animal species and has serious negative impacts on the environment and the Department is also concerned about the use of fires on the Grenadines islands and its impact on the Seabird population.
