Acting Police Commissioner, Colin John has commended Female Police Officers for their service to the Constabulary, describing them as true nation builders.
In commemoration of Mother’s Day on Sunday, Commissioner John said it is important to recognize the service, sacrifice and true dedication to duty of the Mothers who wear the uniform of the Police Force.
He said Women Police Officers are on Beat Patrols, they investigate crimes at the Criminal Investigations Department, they patrol the borders and ride the treacherous waves while performing duties at the Coast Guard; they patrol the mountainous terrain of the country as members of the Special Services and Rapid Response Units, arresting the criminals; and they assist in ensuring the proper administration of the Police Force at the Office of the Commissioner of Police and Headquarters Office.
The Commissioner said as Mothers, Wives, Sisters and even Grandmothers, these officers have been making an extraordinary sacrifice not only to protect and provide for their own families but to protect and serve the citizens of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
At present, there are 174 Women Police Officers in the Police Force with the highest ranked at Superintendent.
The Acting Commissioner said this is testament of the respect and high regard in which the organisation holds the Women Police Officers.
He extended best wishes and Happy Mother’s day greetings to every Woman Police Officer who is a Mother, and other Mothers throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
