Minister of Finance, Camillo Gonsalves, said vulnerability to Climate Change and its related impacts is one of the main existential issues facing small island states like St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
He made the point during his presentation on the Climate Resilience Levy Bill, 2018, which was passed in Parliament yesterday.
The Bill is for an Act to make provisions for the collection of a Climate Resilience Levy from all transient visitors in visitor accommodation premises, the registration of all operators of visitor accommodation premises and for matters incidental thereto.
Minister Gonsalves said the bill is intended to build resilience to the threat of climate change and its impact on the national economy and called on the political opposition to foster a greater appreciation of climate change and its potential hazards.
