Newly installed Supervisor of Elections, Dora James has been cautioned to carry out her duties to ensure that all elections are free and fair.
Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne issued the challenge during the Swearing In Ceremony yesterday at Government House.
Mrs. James formally took the oath of Office as Supervisor of Elections and as a Justice of Peace.
Sir Frederick also reminded Mrs. James that her duties extend beyond polling day and that she is responsible for entire processes leading up to that day.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Godfred Pompey, expressed gratitude to the former Supervisor of Elections, Sylvia Findlay-Scrubb, on behalf of the Ministry, for her “human service” to this country and wished her well in retirement.
He also thanked incoming Supervisor of Elections, Mrs. James, for accepting the important responsibility of Supervisor of Elections.
The new Supervisor of Elections, Dora James, pledged to carry out her duties with integrity.
