Senior Forestry Supervisor, Cornelius Richards said they recently had to address an issue on Petit Canouan where people were lighting fires to harvest wild bird eggs.
He said while people traditionally harvest bird eggs on this island, the using of fire was not an issue before and using fire to hunt animals has many negative impacts on the environment.
He said no hunting activity is permitted on the uninhabited islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Vincent and the Grenadines has an international obligation to protect these global wildlife species when they travel the earth and anyone caught breaking the law on these issues will be dealt with severely.
A report is being prepared for Cabinet on this issue.
