A call has been made for a multi-disciplinary approach in tackling the problem of crime and violence here.
Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Dr. Ralph Gonsalves made the call, as he delivered remarks at the start of a two-day conversation on Crime and Violence, held at the Methodist Church Hall this week.
The forum was hosted by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Christian Council, in collaboration with Churches and other stakeholders.
The Prime Minister said the question to be asked is: Why are some individuals more likely than others to commit crimes?
The Prime Minister said that while some may accept that poverty, parental neglect, low self-esteem, alcohol and drug abuse are connected to criminal activity, this is not always the case.
