A Special Service was held at the Calder Seventh Day Adventist Church yesterday to mark the start of the 60th Anniversary celebrations of the Calder Government School.
Staff, Students and other well-wishers of the School attended the Service which was held under the theme: Giving Thanks for 60 Years of Educational Advancement
Addressing the gathering, Minister of Education, St Clair Prince commended the School on attaining a significant milestone, noting that it has played a significant role in the community.
Meanwhile … Parliamentary Representative for the area Frederick Stephenson congratulated the School for the progress made over the years and pledged his continued assistance to the Institution.
Other activities planned by the School to commemorate its 60th anniversary include: a Community Outreach Day, a Career Day, and a Cultural Night with the Indian Heritage Foundation.
The Calder Government School opened its doors in January 1958, and the first Principal was the late Wilfred Massey Alexander.
