5The devastation caused by recent hurricanes has impacted negatively on the economies of several countries in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU).5
This was confirmed by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves as he responded to a question at a News Conference this week, in relation to the possible impact of the weather systems on the ECCU in 2018.
Dr. Gonsalves said the relief and recovery efforts have resulted in significant economic challenges for small states like St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Prime Minister said the financial impact will continue to affect the economies of the countries that were devastated by the weather events, in years to come.
