The 2017 Inter-School Netball Championships got underway yesterday in style at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex with the Inter-Secondary Schools’ Teams taking the Court.
The Secondary Competition began with an official opening ceremony, with remarks by President of the Netball Association Doris McIntosh and Earl Bennett of the Ministry of Education.
Seven matches in both the Junior and Senior Divisions were played, where Central Leeward Secondary School won their Junior and Secondary matches. They defeated Petit Bordel Secondary School 11-2 in the Junior and Troumaca Ontario Secondary School 20-7 in the Senior Divisions.
In other junior matches, Petit Bordel Secondary defeated defending champions Troumaca Ontario Secondary 8-6 and Bethel High School dominated the Girls’ High School 31-6 and later beat Thomas Saunders Secondary 18-7.
In the Senior Division, Thomas Saunders Secondary pivoted passed defending Champions Bethel High School 20-17 and Bishop’s College Kingstown outclassed St. Clair Dacon Secondary 15-4.
The Championship continued today with Zone “A” matches at 9:00am this morning in the Inter-Primary Netball Festival at the Hard Court of the London Playing Field in Sandy Bay.
A total of 16 schools are participating in the Secondary Tournament and 22 in the Primary Festival.
