The charge of attempted murder brought against Pedro Ashton of Biabou has been upgraded to murder, following the death of Monique Clarke, a 44-year-old Domestic of Biabou.
Ashton, a 33-year-old Farmer of Biabou, was initially charged for attempted murder, following an incident which occurred at Biabou on Sunday August 13th.
Reports indicate that Clarke was involved in a dispute with Ashton and sustained severe burns about her body after a liquid substance was thrown on her, and she was set alight.
According to a Police report, Clarke, a Mother of two, subsequently died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital after suffering from second and third degree burns to her body.
Ashton has now been charged with murder, and is scheduled to appear at the Kingstown Magistrates Court today.
