Eight new Peace Corps Volunteers were sworn in today to serve in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
This occurred during the Swearing-in Ceremony of the 89th Group of Peace Corp Trainees at the Frenches House in Kingstown.
Delivering the feature address during this morning’s ceremony, Deborah Dalrymple, Head of the UWI Open Campus SVG Site, encouraged the Peace Corps who will be placed at Primary Schools to learn as much as they teach while in the country.
Mrs. Dalrymple said the Peace Corps must also build relationships with the members of the community in which they serve to ensure holistic success in their duties.
Meanwhile, Laura Griesmer, Deputy Chief of Mission for the U.S Embassy in Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean and the OECS, said she is proud of the new volunteers under the program which has come to be known of one of the things good about the United States.
She also thanked everyone who has played a role to ensure the continuation of the Peace Corp program in St. Vincent and the Grenadines over the past fifty years.
