The Ministry of Health is appealing for more to be done to promote and assist Breast Feeding among mothers with young children, throughout the country.
This appeal was made by Andrea Robin, Chief Nutritionist, as the country observed World Breastfeeding Week last week.
Mrs. Robin said Breastfeeding takes place in high numbers from birth at hospitals, with more than ninety percent but this rate is reduced dramatically especially when Breastfeeding mothers have to return to work.
Mrs. Robin is appealing to Early Childhood Education centers to have facilities where breast milk can be stored to feed babies whose mothers have to return to work.
She is also appealing to workplaces to be more flexible with mothers who have young children to ensure that these babies receive the optimal care from their working mothers.
