The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Preservation Fund is appealing to Vincentians to get involved in Bird Conservation and protect ALL Bird Species which live in the country.
Louise Mitchell, Director of the SVG Preservation Fund, said they are currently funding a Bird Conservation program where children are taught about the different species of birds so they can become stewards of the environment.
She added that the birds play a very important role in the ecosystem and they have embarked on an extensive program to work along with other organizations to protect the nation’s birds.
She however states that the work they are doing cannot be successful without the assistance of the public.
Miss Mitchell said they have also been hosting workshops on Bird Conservation to teach Vincentians about the importance of birds in the food chain.
She is also appealing to Fishermen to protect sea birds which normally shows them where fish are.
