A closing ceremony was held here on Monday 31st july 2017, to mark the end of a two-week training programme, during which five persons were trained to conduct scientific observations onboard Vincentian vessels fishing on the High Seas.
The training was co-ordinated by the Fisheries Division in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.
Minister Saboto Caesar said St. Vincent and the Grenadines is stepping up its efforts to remain compliant with international standards which relate to illegal, unreported and unregulated IUU fishing.
Minister Caesar also said he is pleased to receive assistance from the Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO, to put legislation in place to regulate illegal fishing, nothing that Vincentians are being deployed to assist with monitoring.
