Issues relating to environmental protection will be highlighted this weekend as the global community observes Earth Day on Saturday April 22nd.
Cornelius Richards, Senior Forestry Supervisor, said numerous communities celebrated an entire week of activities which focused on environmental issues that the world faces.
Speaking on NBC’s Face to Face programme this morning, Mr. Richards said this year’s observance will focus on climate literacy and we as a people must stand up, join and take action.
He added that it is a landmark event where countries come together to address matters of environmental protection and to lend their support to this issue.
Mr. Richards said education is key to empowering persons to take action against climate change and in order to affect change the public must be educated.
