Saboto Caesar, Minister of Agriculture said 2017 will see significant progress in the development of the nation’s very own Modern Coffee Industry.
He made this statement during a press briefing which has held this morning to update the nation on some preliminary work which will be done over the next three days for the establishment of the local Coffee Industry.
Minister Caesar said this program is another aspect of the Agricultural Diversification program, under the Government’s 100 Days Plan and farmers can expect big things in 2017.
He said a Coffee nursery has already been established at the Orange Hill Agricultural station and stated that three professionals from South America are currently in the state and they will be doing some preliminary feasibility work on Coffee production over the next three days.
Meanwhile, the Inter-American Institute for Co-operation on Agriculture (IICA) is providing support to the initiative to develop the Coffee Industry.
Michael Dalton, Technical Specialist at the local Office gave the assurance that the Agency will continue to work with the Ministry of Agriculture to develop livelihoods and opportunities throughout the country.
