Taj Ballantyne won the 2016 St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College Individual Tennis Championship yesterday, beating Sebastian Cyrus 2-1 in the Final at the National Tennis Center.
Ballantyne took the lead with a 6-2 win in the first set. Cyrus leveled the match by winning the second set 6-1. The Third set went to a tie break. At one stage, Cyrus led 8-5 before Ballantyne drew level at 9-all.
After that, match point shifted from one player to the other, but Ballantyne prevailed to end the set at 18-16 and take the Title.
Before the Final, Cyrus completed a 2-1 victory over Yanic Grant in the third set of their semi-final match which had been suspended because of fading light on Monday when the scores were 1-1.
Cyrus eventually won the final set at 18-16 and take the Title.
Grant took the third place by beating Chelsea Haslam 6-2, 6-LOVE in the play-off.
