The Local Meteorological Office said a flood watch has been extended for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
According to its latest advisory, a trough system moving eastward over the Caribbean Sea will continue to interact with the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone resulting in cloudy to overcast skies, occasional pockets of moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and thunderstorms across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
This activity has drifted northwards across the Lesser Antilles, however we expect a deterioration tonight into tomorrow as this active drifts southwards across the chain again.
Models are also forecasting possible rainfall accumulations of 4 to 6 inches over St. Vincent over the next 36 hours.
Due to the already saturated nature of the soils, Residents in flood prone and areas prone to land slippage should continue to exercise caution and remain on the alert.
This Watch is likely to be upgraded into a warning; the next update will be issued at 6:00 pm or before if necessary.
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Office will continue to monitor the situation.
