Camillo Gonsalves, Minister of Information, said St. Vincent and the Grenadines did not proclaim its current Freedom of Information Act in anticipation of harmonized OECS legislation and structures in the areas of freedom of information and privacy.
He made the point while responding to a question in parliament on Friday in relation to when the Freedom of Information Act which was enacted in 2003, will be enforced.
Minister Gonsalves said the government has indicated its intent not to proclaim the 2003 Act but to pass a new Freedom of Information Act.
Minister Gonsalves said the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines was ahead of the OECS in developing Freedom of Information legislation.
