Assurance has been given that the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment takes the safety and security of patients and staff at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital and other healthcare facilities seriously.
Around 5 o’clock in the afternoon at the Hospital on Tuesday the assurance came in the wake of heightened security.
A release from the Ministry said the heightened security was put in place for a patient who was assessed to be at risk of danger from persons external to the institution.
It stressed that this is standard procedure, and that otherwise the operations of the Hospital continue as normal.
The Ministry appealed to the public to observe the visiting hours, as usual, and to co-operate with security personnel. It said any temporary inconvenience is for the greater good of providing a safe environment for all concerned.
