Several students throughout the country were recognized for their achievements in the Schools Cooperative Program, during the National Schools Cooperative Awards Ceremony.
The ceremony was hosted by the Ministry of National Mobilization‘s Cooperative Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
Frederick Stephenson, Minister of National Mobilization said in his address at the Awards Ceremony that since the inception of the program in 1978 it has grown significantly and it is one of the flagship programs in his Ministry.
Minister Frederick said that there is currently over 11,000 students both in the primary and secondary schools throughout the country who are actively involved in the Schools Cooperative Saving Program.
He also noted that savings have increased during the 2015-2016 period as opposed to the 2014-2015 period.
Meanwhile … Cecil Jackson, Registrar of Cooperatives said the ceremony is held to show appreciation to the Students and Teacher Guides for their achievements under the program.
