The 105th National Day of the Republic of China on Taiwan was celebrated with a reception, held earlier this week at the Methodist Church Hall. The Prime Minister took the opportunity to dispel rumors against Taiwanese Fishing Vessels. It is alleged that these vessels are illegally fishing in the territorial waters of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Prime Minister said Taiwan vessels do not fish in Vincentian waters and he reiterated that if a vessel is registered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines but owned by a national of a different country, they cannot fish in this country’s territorial waters.
Meanwhile, Bashaun Ger, Ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, said that Taiwanese Fishing vessels only fish on the high seas in waters that do not belong to any country. He added that these vessels operate in strict compliance with international high seas fishing regulations.
