A new-born baby was reported to have been abandoned in a pit latrine just after midday yesterday. Local Police officials in the North Leeward Constituency of Chateaubelair have launched an investigation. The mother was said to be a woman in the neighboring village of Fitz Hughes.
According to I Witness News, The Police in the North Leeward town confirmed that they had received and were investigating the report, but declined to give further details.
A video circulating on social media, shows a number of persons trying to retrieve the new born infant from the latrine. It has been alleged that the Fitz Hughes resident is an alcoholic, who allegedly had a recent mental breakdown.
The Police have disclosed that the 33 year old mother of Fitz Hughes, was admitted last night to the Maternity Ward, at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. The male infant has been receiving treatment at the Hospital.
