The 18th Vita Malt Bequia Basketball Championships ended before a large crowd last Saturday night at the Hard Court of the Clive Tannis Playing Field in Port Elizabeth.
Wizards emerged 1st Division Champions beating East Blazers 78-68 in the 4th game for a 3 -1 win of the best of five finals.
Southern Stars won the 2nd Division Title after beating Young Duke 56-44 in Game 2 for a 2-0 victory in the Best of 3 Finals.
Hornets took the Under-16 Division Title, with Omario Louise being voted the Most Valuable Player in the Division. In his 10 games for the season, Louise scored `124 points, 104 rebounds, 14 assists, 60 steals and 22 blocks.
Steveon Taylor of East Blazers was named the Most Valuable Player in the 1st Division. In 6 games, Taylor scored 133 points, had 86 rebounds, 32 assists, 20 steals and 5 blocks.
The Most Valuable Player of the Championships was Xavaughn Dennie of Wizards.
Mark Browne of Generalz was voted the Most Improved Player in the Championsips. Browne had an average of 14.73 last year. This year, his average climbed to 29.43.
