Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves on Tuesday called upon central government employees to lift their productivity levels.
While speaking at a news conference, Dr. Gonsalves pointed out that the increase in current expenditure by 4.2 per cent for Jan-July, 2016 went mainly towards payment of public sector wages and salaries.
For the similar period last year, recurrent expenditure amounted to EC$150.4 million.
The Prime Ministers said he wants public servants to recognize that Central Government is spending a large sum on wages and salaries, and hence he is encouraging them to see how they can be more productive.
