The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Tuesday signed a contract for the installation of a Solar Energy System at the Argyle International Airport (AIA).
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves signed the agreement with the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) and the St. Vincent Electricity Services (VINLEC).
The Prime Minister said that the yearly operational cost for the AIA is projected to be three million dollars; hence the importance of using renewable energy which will result in lower energy costs while enhancing the efficiency of operations at the airport.
Chief Executive Officer of the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF), Rodinald Soomer said his organization is pleased to be part of the continued development of the soon to be open AIA.
